On July 8, 2011 Lyme celebrates the 250th anniversary of the issue of its charter
by Governor Wentworth in 1761. A grand celebration is being planned for August 5-7, 2011. Save the dates! The Lyme 250th Anniversary Observation Committee has been established to explore how to best recognize and celebrate this momentous occasion. Over the next 12 months the Committee will be actively seeking input from the Lyme community on how to best commemorate this anniversary. The Committee will also be working with representatives from the other 11 neighboring towns that share the same charter date in order to coordinate our own local festivities. The Committee meets the first and Third Tuesday of each month, 7:00pm for Sub-Committee Meetings and 7:30 for Steering Committee, Town Office Conference Room.
