Minutes of Transfer Station Committee Meeting – September 6, 2007
In attendance: Pete Bleyler, Simon Carr, Marya Klee, Steve Maddock, Pete MacDonald, Dan Quinn, Charles Ragan
1. Personnel – Today Dan Quinn was appointed and welcomed as supervisor for the Transfer Station, taking over many of the committee’s responsibilities. We would be pleased to help in any way, including organizing data requirements.
2. Second Day Opening – The Board of Selectmen will push quickly for the Wednesday opening as soon as Dan Quinn is up to speed with operations. We suggest the second day would be an opportunity to determine how to cut off access outside of the official hours and to have Chief Field define the traffic pattern. (Steve and Dan are working to have a handout for Sun., Sept. 23.)
3. Sticker Sale – As too many stickered bags are contractor-sized or exceedingly heavy, the committee requests that the Board of Selectmen stop the sale of stickers. The Town Office would continue to sell punch cards and Lyme green bags.
4. Certification – Pathways Consulting has been hired to complete all of the drawings for our application.
5. Operations – We will ask NRRA why the scrap metal vendor uses Concord and not the closer Claremont. (Steve has learned that the metal is taken to Claremont, paperwork comes from Concord.) We urge Dan to seek a solutions for the following items:
High voltage circuit breaker
“Dummy” gate lock
Hosing pad between compactor container pulls
Shed for storage/shelter
6. It is time to start thinking of the Transfer Station budget.
7. The next meeting of the Transfer Station Committee will be on Wednesday, October 3, 10am, at the Fire House.
Respectfully submitted, Marya Klee
