Town of Lyme
Board of Selectmen
Minutes for Session II January 17, 2008
1. The regular session of the Board of Selectmen continued at 10:00 AM on Thursday December 13, 2007 in the town offices. The following attended the entire meeting: Simon Carr, Dick Jones, Charles Ragan Bookkeeper/Secretary Dina Cutting and Library Trustees: chair Judy Russell, Tish Smith and Steve Campbell.
2. There was a discussion on the proposed “escape-wells” in the basement. The information and proposal that had been gathered was passed to the Trustees. No work would be undertaken until after Town Meeting and the Board and Trustees would meet again then to consider the necessary work. In the meantime, Dina will ensure that any information from the engineer will be passed to the Trustees. She will also arrange for the Trustees to visit an existing installation.
3. There was a discussion on funding for any work undertaken on town buildings. The money comes from Capital Reserve Funds and the proposed appropriation has been set so as to not increase the current tax rate.
4. The Tasco alarm system proposal was also explained. The hardware from this can be re-located to new town offices, should the bond vote pass. Steve asked in the possibility of a panic button within the library area be considered before the system is installed.
5. The meeting adjourned at 10:56 AM.
