Minutes for May 15, 2008
1. The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen convened at 8:00 AM with the following attending all or part of the meeting: Charles Ragan (member), Dick Jones (member), Dina Cutting (bookkeeper/secretary), John Koska and Mike Koska.
a. The minutes of May 8th were reviewed and approved.
b. The manifest was reviewed and approved.
c. The annual maintenance contract for the Selectmen’s Office copier ($295.00) with Lyndonville Office Equipment was reviewed and signed.
d. Dina’s request to take May 23rd, May 27th and June 3rd off was approved.
e. Letters requesting data from local utilities (for the revaluation by our utility appraiser) were reviewed and approved.
2. John and Mike Koska came in to discuss the cut-outs and culverts on Highbridge Road and their impact on their property at 95 Highbridge Road. Dick said that he had inspected them on Wednesday with Fred Stearns (the Road Agent); they both felt that they were necessary for erosion control, and Fred had told him they have been in place for many years. John said that the Town did not have a drainage easement across his property and that he felt that all runoff should be routed within the road ditches to Pinnacle Brook. Both Dick and Charles said that the ditches could not carry the large amount of runoff at certain times without adversely affecting the traveled way’s width and the
ability of the road to continue to be open to two-way traffic. After additional discussion, Mike, who is a licensed civil engineer in Massachusetts, agreed to look into a proposing a possible remedy.
3. The meeting adjourned at 9:25.
