Next Sunday, June 17th, 7pm at the Academy building, the Lyme Conservation Commission will host a presentation by Skip Lisle of "Beaver Deceivers International." Skip will talk about his work and efforts to limit the effect that the beaver dams in the Chaffee Wildlife Sanctuary have on the water level of Post Pond. He will also share his extensive knowledge of beaver's and their habitats.
Skip has been doing beaver control work for about 20 years and has used his expertise to help communities throughout the United States deal with the problems created by beavers and their dams.
Last fall the Conservation Commission employed Skip to assess the
problem at Post Pond. His recommendation was to install a "Castor
Master," which is a specially designed pipe that allows water to flow through the beaver dam. The "Castor Master" was installed at the beginning of November last year and has been operating continuously since.
Please join us next Sunday evening in finding out what his latest assessment is of the situation at Post Pond and the Chaffee Wildlife Sanctuary.
