After fifteen years, Al Pryor, our Transfer Station Supervisor has decided that the time has come to cut back on his travelling and is leaving us. He re-located to Lancaster about a year ago and his travel time now often exceeds the time he’s actually working at the Transfer Station. We are extremely grateful to Al for all the work he has put in at the Transfer Station and in to guiding the town in more and better ways to recycle and we wish him well in enjoying his Sunday mornings in the future. Al’s
last day will be Sunday, October 7.
With Al’s leaving we are making a number of changes to the Transfer Station operation. We have appointed Dan Quinn to take over as the Transfer Station Supervisor, with Lance Goodrich as his “leading hand” and with Jed Smith working as an attendant. We are sure that the guys will continue to give you the same good service that Al has been known for over the years. Dan already has many ideas which we’ll start seeing in the months to come.
Starting October 10th we will be opening the Transfer Station Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 -6:00 PM, in addition to the regular Sunday opening from 8:30 to 11:00 AM. In making this move we took account not only of the views expressed at the last Town Meeting, but also the views expressed in the Community Attitude Survey, which the Planning Board undertook last year and the Town Meeting discussion when we purchased the compactor.
We would also like to remind people that green bags and the pink coupons are available both from the Town Clerk’s office, open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 8:00AM to 2:00PM and from the Lyme Country Store, open seven days a week.
