Hello Lyme....
LYME GREEN-UP DAY is Saturday, May 3. This is our day to pick up and spruce up our town’s roadsides and streambanks....but why wait? You can do your "greening up" any time that suits you, as long as you keep some simple new guidelines in mind.
This year, the Conservation Commission is again providing FREE, blue "New Hampshire the Beautiful" bags for Lyme residents to use just for Green Up Day. Recycle whatever roadside and streamside litter you can - and put the rest into these special blue bags, which will be accepted at the transfer station FREE on SUNDAY MAY 4 ONLY. Regular household trash goes as usual in the purchased green Lyme trash bags - Green Up Day trash goes in the free blue ones, on that day only.
Pick up your "New Hampshire the Beautiful" bags at Rich’s Insurance in Lyme Center and at the Lyme Country Store. All non-toxic trash can be put in the blue bags.
If you find a tire or other bulky item where it doesn’t belong (not your own discarded items), call the town office (795-4639) to make arrangements for pick up by volunteers who will dispose of it for you at no charge. Tires will not be accepted at the transfer station for free disposal on May 4, except from these volunteers.
Thanks from all of us for doing your part to help Lyme stay green and beautiful.
