Second Hazardous Waste Collection (Sat. June 5)

Didn't make it to the first Hazardous Waste Collection?  Have no Fear!  There are four more collections this year.  The next Hazardous Waste Collection will be Sat, June 5 —Newport Highway Garage, 449 S Main Street (Rt 10S)  Remember to mark your calendars!

Still a good idea to go through your cabinets, garages, and basements.  You will be looking for items that are flammable, poisonous and oil based that are no longer needed or used.  If there is a skull and crossbone it is Hazardous.  This is not always the case though.  For more information contact the Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission at (603) 448-1680 or vdavis@uvlsrpc.org.   Please browse this link for materials that are considered Hazardous:

Please also remember that:

Attendees MUST:

  • stay in their vehicles
  • put up their masks when near people and a vehicle window is down
  • place their waste in the trunk or truck bed - not hand it out the window or have it in their back seat
  • not bring containers they want back (such as fuel can)

no money will be taken from anyone from a non-participating municipality; you must call in advance to make arrangements to send a check

You can also check out the Lyme website.  Look under Departments; Transfer Station and Recycling Center.  When you get to that page look at the left hand side 6 columns down under the Upper Valley Hazardous Waste Committee.
