Fire Department
If you wish to burn clean, ordinary combustibles such as leaves, brush or untreated lumber or have a camp or cooking fire, state law requires you obtain a fire permit unless the ground where you are burning is completely covered with snow. (Gas grills or charcoal fires in a container up and off the ground on your own property do not require a fire permit.) Conditions permitting, fire permits may be obtained from the Online Burn Permitting System, the Forest Fire Warden, Ernst Kling, or Deputy Forest Fire Warden, Charles Ragan. Before lighting a fire, notify the dispatch center at 643-2222 where and when you will be burning.
