Cancellation of Little Town Meeting

With regret, the Lyme Select Board has decided not to go forward with our traditional “Little Town Meeting” originally scheduled to occur this evening (Tuesday) via Zoom.

Little Town Meeting has traditionally been a forum in which people running for Town office can present themselves, and where residents can raise questions or request additional information with respect to Big Town Meeting agenda items. When the Select Board originally planned this year’s Little Town meeting, we were in the midst of a COVID surge, and the Select Board felt it was prudent to limit the need for large numbers of us to gather in person.  As a result, we planned to conduct Little Town Meeting via Zoom, as we had last year, while proceeding with a traditional, in-person, (albeit streamlined) Town Meeting next week.  This week, several individuals objected to conducting Little Town Meeting via zoom, including by raising questions concerning the legality of that approach.  After consulting with the Town’s lawyer, and given the limited options available due to time constraints, the Select Board has decided to forego Little Town Meeting this year.

Candidates running for office are encouraged to submit a message to be posted on the Town Website about your interest in the position you're running for. Send them along to  patty@lymenh.gov. As always, residents with questions or requests for additional information concerning Town Meeting agenda items are encouraged to forward such inquiries to selectboard@lymenh.gov.

Thanks everyone for your understanding and patience, and our apologies for the late notice and last minute change.  Transitional moments like the one we are currently traversing are often challenging.
